I am Emily I am a nun. I was taught to read and write. I devoted my life to serve god and to obey the wishes of my family. Not all nuns were given hard, manual work. Another reason why women chose to become nuns was because they devoted there lives to there family's. The three vows of the medieval nuns of the middle age were: the vow of poverty, the vow of chastity and the vow of obedience.
Dear diary, Today I threw a party. I invited the Barons, Lords and the Ladies. I had a red silk dress it came to my ankles, and I had a silk and lace headwear. We had a starter of tomato soup next we had beef with onions, garlic, herbs, dried peas and beans .Along with vegetables that were in season. And last we had fruits, nuts, cheese and wafers. After that we discussed what we had been doing over the last few weeks. Tomorrow I will be get the peasants to mend my dress for the party at the manor in a week .
I The lord of a Bicester am the supreme ruler over my territory. From the Bicester agreement I gained these rights. My duties were many. I had to set up taxes and laws, oversee the day to day business of the castle and Bicester, and make decisions over punishments and other issues. Besides this, I had to serve my king by appearing in my court or fighting at his side. To cover the day to day tasks of managing the castle, I often hire a steward. The steward is the head of all the castle's staff, except for the military personnel. Sometimes there were two stewards; one in charge of all of my estates, and the other in charge of just the castle. In either case, the steward is my main adviser on issues that the I was to decide. The steward often helped with my accounts and books. He calculated the revenue from taxes and the money spent by me. The steward was also the head of the my court in my absence.
my name is imogen jones i am a peasent. my daily life is torture, i hate it so much but you learn to live with it. i usually wake up at 3am and have pottage for breakfast then i am off to the farm and feilds to feed the animals and collect the vegitables and fruits. then by the time i have finished that i have to do it all over again but not for my family for the royal family, they treat us herendously i just want to run away from them as fast as i can and go home to cry. i never get time to rest i am alway doing chors but rarely if i get a few minutes of rest i eather educate myself and my brothers or sleep so that i am ready for my next chors of horror. i just pray everyday that i will soon be able to be someone special and someone that never has to do anything like the royal family.

My life is basic but hard, incredibly hard. Today I had to muck out all the animals on our farm which is an incredibly hard job in itself but I had to do it again for our royal family I must do all the things id do at home twice, I must feed the pigs,cows,chickens, geese,ducks,sheep and more so doing that all twice it's a very hard job. But some jobs my family can help me with for instance today my two boys helped me muck out and milk the cows, pick berrys in the fields to eat for our supper, more food for us is a treat and a rarity so we try to spread out our extra food through out the the week. So my life is not easy at all, it's basic but very hard.

I am a monk and I have devoted myself to god, my father is the priest. My mother and sister are nuns and my brother is a monk.I have taken the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. I have given up all that I own and spend my life in the monastery. Every day I go to church,read the bible for several hours,pray and meditate.The rest of the day I work hard in the monastery and its lands,washing,cooking,thatching,haymaking,threshing,binding, ploughing and sowing. I only eat bread and meat. and the bed I sleep on is only pallets filled with straw.

hello i am a thacher. i just thached a house and it was very hard because they wanted it a meeter high it was tiring. It cost for the hole job £300. For 13 stone of straw is £109 for it . I did the queen house a few weeks ago and also the prime ministers. The queens took me eight weeks to do and the price was £4000. At home in bicester i would of enjoyed a reputation for chivalry and valor, and he spent some time jousting, falconing, and hunting.i was literate, conventionally religious, generous to my friends, and possessed of artistic sensibilities and an appreciation for fine jewels. In the last year of my life, when he knew he was dying, i may have supported the commons in the Good Parliament of April, 1376 in an attempt to secure the succession for i eldest surviving son. i died that June, and was buried in Canterbury Cathedral.
Last week I finished my final bit of training for the day and have just got back from fighting. Luckily there were no casualties and we managed to defeat the enemy. I got to use the two handed sword to fight with. I am spending the night in the castle and I am just about to go on a run to keep fit. Fighting is hard and requires a lot of work so we have to get a lot of sleep to be ready for the morning. Tomorrow I still have to do some more weapon training but I have another month until I have to fight again.
i am the baron I have been working very hard today as I have been doing my job, I am part of a big family and I live in the manor house with the lord and the three knights. I have today been making sure that the kings army are set for any battles and I have also made sure that the village have been doing their job probably and i am really tired. i have today been going all around the village making sure every single person is doing their job as well. Being the Baron is an extremely hard job but I have to do it to help the king tomorrow I shall do more work so goodbye for now.
hello i am the priest i am in charge of the church. me, the nuns and the monks go there every day. the church is our favourite building. me the monks and the nuns get on really well so going to church is fun. today we went to church and had a good time. we all know each other and live near each other. i live in the biggest house of them all then the monks and the nuns live on one side of me. it is good though because we can all talk to each other in the day.
hello i am the candle stick maker. i make candles out of bees wax and animal fat. i also make soap it is maid out accumulated mutton fat, wood ash or potash, and natural soda. only the every body had soap because they cold afford it.
i have got to also look after my filed and animals .I nead to look after all my field's because i nead to eat all phrew the year and if i run out of food i will starve and i will dye . i still nead to do my houce chores so my houce is not dirt every were got to go diner is redy
Dear diary, Today has been one of my busiest days I had loads of work coming from the castle and from people round the village even though I love my job as the Blacksmith. Today I had the kings guards in I had to make their armour and I had to make their swords as well as their horses tack it was a tough job doing all those things I had to get the measurements from the tailor. I also had to make some household items for the king’s banquet he was very specific about what he wanted although I got it perfect so he was very happy I also had to make some tack for the villagers and I had to measure ten different villagers horses I was also making horse shoes today to go on top of everything else I had to do today it was very tiring I am still getting orders in now for tomorrow I have more horses tack to make and I need to finish the weapons and make more house hold items for the kings banquet which he will get his servants to pick up bow I will go home to my family and have my dinner so I must go bye.

Hello I am a Medieval Catholic Nun. I geuss you could say my life isn't that exciting for some people. I live in a Nunnery or you could say a Convent. I am not allowed to go beyond the Nunnery. Some people were put in here by their families or widows chose to become a Nun after their husbund died. When I was new I had to take a vow of obiedience, all Nuns do. The solmn vow will be taken four years from now. I am seen as married to God. I wear a ring on my finger and a headress to show this. Nuns are strictly disciplined. Our lives are dedicated to our God and to our faith.
Hi, I’m the local tailor. Today the first thing on my list was to go to the slaughter house to pick up some animal skin. I chose cow skin, nice and thick! First I scraped all the flesh off the skin with my brand new metal knife that I got from the blacksmith. Then I put my special chemical over the skin, I could have used salt or urine but the last time I used it made my shop smell for weeks! This afternoon I got a brand new batch of flax plant, and then I turned it into linen and wool. Anyway I’ve got to go and make some more clothes. Bye!
today i had to get up at 4am and i had to miss breakfast so i was really hungery and tired. me and my twin brother sheldon had to go and feed the animals wich is good because me and my brother are only 3 years old so we cant do much. we also have do pick the vegetables wich is very easy for me and sheldon.we also had to pick the fruit wich is sortov hard because we cant reach very high so we have to stand on each others backs.
I am a skilled worker, I slaughter animals for a living (so I am a butcher) Today I slaughtered 3 pigs, 2 sheep, 1 cow and 4 chickens for the king’s banquet which he is having at the weekend. He is inviting some very important people, lords and ladies, dukes and duchess. It has been a really busy week for me.
I have finally finshed my knight training it was hard work, i needed to start when i was eight amd now im 16 im a real knight. Now im a knight i need to guard the castle for most of the day, i get paid quiete a bit but not alot. My brother is also a knight but he is 18 and stil guarding the castle he said it was hard work but fun, but he was injured in a battle fighting for the lord, but he is alright now.

Life’s worthless at the minute no money no food and our parents aren’t really parents at minute there like our teachers our role models you see at this time it's not all about cosy warm friendly familys!Is's about life and learning and the consequences’ you have to face through out life!!! I got up at 4am this morning i had to sweep the hole farm and feed all the animals and as much as all that i had to take my to little brothers out to the cow house so that they could milk then and just as i thought i could finally have a little rest i got sent to the royal house i had to make breakfast for all of them and then go back to the, cows house to collect my brothers and carry back two buckets of cows milk. I had a little bit of a reality cheek yesterday i thought what’s my life worth living?!
what a prince would do every day is he would probaly get up in the morning and soy to him self im going to be the best king ever when i grow up a every on is going to love me for ever and the only way that im going to die is by old age not in a war or a battel or from illness or murder from old age so after i get up i would go down stairs and sit at the table and wait for eggs or toast or any thing fancey not anything like porrige or any thing like that. after break feast i would go out and get some fresh air and probaly go for a bit if hunting for pigs or birgs or even wolfs or you could just say hunting for anything to eat of animals for fun any ways thats the end of my diary and thats probaly what i would do in one whole day sooooooooooo see ya!!!!
The priest does not do any physical work but he needs his energy to talk to god, stop us partying and heal us.The priest can translate the bible for us and blesses the harvest for us.The priest does the services in latin which is a down side but it makes it so that they are traditinal.I admit partying but only once a month also when I hunt I try make the kills scrafices to god. when we have to pay ten percent of every thing we own I make sure I can.
Dear diary, I am really annoyed with the church they are taking are money that we earn but there are some good things like they can get me to heaven and we can prey to god they also perform are last writes when we die.He is doing what god told him to do to get us to heaven and he performs all the religous cerimonies in the village.I do have my suspitions though like apparently the nuns ans monks are out partying and hunting I though they were meant to be holy and be trustworthy to god. Also the priest is doing no hard labour we are out there every day working so hard for are incoming money while he is sat doing nothing but preying or doing services.And then we have to give him 10% of are income personally I don't like him but I wouldn't dare say becauser I might not get into heaven and go to hell. Diary entry 2, im starting to get suspicious abouy the church and the priest, our priest doesnt do anything around the village and he exspects us to pay 10% of our earnings every year we cant afford this we are only peasants I can only just feed my family let alone the village and the priest. There is no other way to go to heaven if i dont pay the money i could become a monk or a nun but recently they've been acting very odd I peconlythink that they go out and go hunting just for fun! we need that meat and they kill it just for fun but i ant tell the priest thris because he may not belive me and we might fall out. i could go on a ppilgramige but i cna t afford to leave my crops while i go around the world looking fo a artifact to touch and prey to. I cant pay a man to prey for me because we dont have much money and what we do have is needed to pay for ny family if we dont have money will have no hone and no feilds to work in and if that happens my family will die because theres no way for us to live. I would say somthing but the priest is the one that can send me to heavan or hell. Dear diary I am very sorry that i havent been able to write in you lately, as you can proberbly guess lifes very hard, yet agian. Lately i have been thinking i want more from the church not just do to go heaven witch i greatly want i also want things like a good educaation food and water every night a family that odnt hide there feeling from me! But then when i come to think ofn it ,it dose have its good points for example we get blessed we are near enough grenteed to go to heaven i mean thats nothing bad it it? my name is cesha jones and i am scared to say anything about the church incase the priest hears or reads it because i really dont want to be sent to hell. The priest has the power to do what ever he likes, he sits at home and does no physical work at all sometimes i take a huge dislike to him. i dont want to bring shame onto my family. my family and all of our villagers need the church, especially our family as we are the peasents, the church and priest is our only way to get to heaven. why does our family get disrespected all the time i mean we do all the work for everyone including the royal family. the church i a really special place to my family there we celebrate festivals like christmas and easter and we have our last riter before we die. i really feel bad for saying these things oh but it really annoyes me how he just has to lead service and then he takes all of hard earned money i mean its hard for us as have no money. oh our life as peasents is so hard i wish i could be the priest where he get everything for nothing im so jealous
Diary Entry 2 Its sunday and i need to go to church well i dont know about the church the preist has been acting weird lately. I go to church because i want to go to hevan when i die, well as a knight you dont know when someones going to chop your head of of hit you in the heart with your sword. I like the church because there is a chance to meet other people around the village because everone in the village needs to go to church to get to hevan these day, i normaly meet up with my knight friend at the door when we walk in and we talk in till the service starts about are training and that. I think that we are beening tricked some times by the priest who wants money from us, he saids that pay me and you will get to hevan, so people do well if they dont they go to hell well thats what the preist say any way.also i dont like that the preist reads the bible in latin most people dont read or speech latin so god knows what he is saying to us in the sevices, there are some rummors going round that the monks and some nun are going out hunting killing animals and also having partys. I would never say any of these to the priest or a nun because if you get on the wrong side of the preist 99% you will ogo to hell and no one wants that now do they. I emily dinmore am a nun and I would like to tell you a few things about the church. We only celebrate good feastivals like Christmas and Easter. All us monks and nuns have our own vows of life that we all have to obay, they are the vow of povatry the vow of chasity and the vow of obidience and they are things like we shal not get married and obay the rules of life. Are priest is the only one who can read and write and can speak english and the language of the bible which is latin. And you could turn to the prest for any help.

I have to say being a Nun is a very religous thing to commit to. The villagers, I've heard are having suspicions about the Church and Nuns and Monks. I don't know why, the Church is a very religous place to be in. And yes people won't be able to afford things like pilgrimeges and giving money to the Church but it is all for a good deed isn't it? If the villagers dare say a thing it will be very risky. The preist might find out and he will get very angry. Let me tell you something they won't get to heaven!

Today was one of the hardest days of my life i had to fix are house like normal but then i had to feed the animals after my husband mucked them all out then i had to go and find some food to eat for supper then wash the kids clothing and and after all that i had to go round the Royal family and muck out all there animals and feed them . i also had to clean there posh house .. sometimes i look around there house and thing wow. after all that i had to cook the tea and feed the kids and i normally finish all this at about 12:30 if were lucky ..i hate my life..all i want is a better life ..is that to much to ask for ?

Every day I go to church,read the bible for several hours,pray and meditate.The rest of the day I work hard in the monastery and its lands,washing,cooking,thatching,haymaking,threshing,binding,
ploughing and sowing.
I only eat bread and meat. and the bed I sleep on is only pallets filled with straw.

ReplyDeleteLast week I finished my final bit of training for the day and have just got back from fighting. Luckily there were no casualties and we managed to defeat the enemy. I got to use the two handed sword to fight with. I am spending the night in the castle and I am just about to go on a run to keep fit. Fighting is hard and requires a lot of work so we have to get a lot of sleep to be ready for the morning. Tomorrow I still have to do some more weapon training but I have another month until I have to fight again.
i am the baron I have been working very hard today as I have been doing my job, I am part of a big family and I live in the manor house with the lord and the three knights. I have today been making sure that the kings army are set for any battles and I have also made sure that the village have been doing their job probably and i am really tired. i have today been going all around the village making sure every single person is doing their job as well. Being the Baron is an extremely hard job but I have to do it to help the king tomorrow I shall do more work so goodbye for now.

ReplyDeletei am in charge of the church. me, the nuns and the monks go there every day. the church is our favourite building. me the monks and the nuns get on really well so going to church is fun. today we went to church and had a good time. we all know each other and live near each other. i live in the biggest house of them all then the monks and the nuns live on one side of me. it is good though because we can all talk to each other in the day.
hello i am the candle stick maker. i make candles out of bees wax and animal fat. i also make soap it is maid out accumulated mutton fat, wood ash or potash, and natural soda.

ReplyDeleteToday has been one of my busiest days I had loads of work coming from the castle and from people round the village even though I love my job as the Blacksmith. Today I had the kings guards in I had to make their armour and I had to make their swords as well as their horses tack it was a tough job doing all those things I had to get the measurements from the tailor. I also had to make some household items for the king’s banquet he was very specific about what he wanted although I got it perfect so he was very happy I also had to make some tack for the villagers and I had to measure ten different villagers horses I was also making horse shoes today to go on top of everything else I had to do today it was very tiring I am still getting orders in now for tomorrow I have more horses tack to make and I need to finish the weapons and make more house hold items for the kings banquet which he will get his servants to pick up bow I will go home to my family and have my dinner so I must go bye.

We live in a stable at the end of a field, we live with are two cows, five chikens and are pig.

Hello I am a Medieval Catholic Nun. I geuss you could say my life isn't that exciting for some people. I live in a Nunnery or you could say a Convent. I am not allowed to go beyond the Nunnery. Some people were put in here by their families or widows chose to become a Nun after their husbund died. When I was new I had to take a vow of obiedience, all Nuns do. The solmn vow will be taken four years from now. I am seen as married to God. I wear a ring on my finger and a headress to show this. Nuns are strictly disciplined. Our lives are dedicated to our God and to our faith.
ReplyDeleteHi, I’m the local tailor. Today the first thing on my list was to go to the slaughter house to pick up some animal skin. I chose cow skin, nice and thick! First I scraped all the flesh off the skin with my brand new metal knife that I got from the blacksmith. Then I put my special chemical over the skin, I could have used salt or urine but the last time I used it made my shop smell for weeks! This afternoon I got a brand new batch of flax plant, and then I turned it into linen and wool. Anyway I’ve got to go and make some more clothes. Bye!

today i had to get up at 4am and i had to miss breakfast so i was really hungery and tired. me and my twin brother sheldon had to go and feed the animals wich is good because me and my brother are only 3 years old so we cant do much.
we also have do pick the vegetables wich is very easy for me and sheldon.we also had to pick the fruit wich is sortov hard because we cant reach very high so we have to stand on each others backs.
I am a skilled worker, I slaughter animals for a living (so I am a butcher)

ReplyDeleteI have finally finshed my knight training it was hard work, i needed to start when i was eight amd now im 16 im a real knight. Now im a knight i need to guard the castle for most of the day, i get paid quiete a bit but not alot. My brother is also a knight but he is 18 and stil guarding the castle he said it was hard work but fun, but he was injured in a battle fighting for the lord, but he is alright now.
Well its great to see what all our character in medieval Bicester have been up to. Lets see how their roles change over the course of history!

Life’s worthless at the minute no money no food and our parents aren’t really parents at minute there like our teachers our role models you see at this time it's not all about cosy warm friendly familys!Is's about life and learning and the consequences’ you have to face through out life!!! I got up at 4am this morning i had to sweep the hole farm and feed all the animals and as much as all that i had to take my to little brothers out to the cow house so that they could milk then and just as i thought i could finally have a little rest i got sent to the royal house i had to make breakfast for all of them and then go back to the, cows house to collect my brothers and carry back two buckets of cows milk. I had a little bit of a reality cheek yesterday i thought what’s my life worth living?!
ReplyDeletewhat a prince would do every day is he would probaly get up in the morning and soy to him self im going to be the best king ever when i grow up a every on is going to love me for ever and the only way that im going to die is by old age not in a war or a battel or from illness or murder from old age so after i get up i would go down stairs and sit at the table and wait for eggs or toast or any thing fancey not anything like porrige or any thing like that.

ReplyDeleteThe priest does not do any physical work but he needs his energy to talk to god, stop us partying and heal us.The priest can translate the bible for us and blesses the harvest for us.The priest does the services in latin which is a down side but it makes it so that they are traditinal.I admit partying but only once a month also when I hunt I try make the kills scrafices to god. when we have to pay ten percent of every thing we own I make sure I can.

ReplyDeleteI am really annoyed with the church they are taking are money that we earn but there are some good things like they can get me to heaven and we can prey to god they also perform are last writes when we die.He is doing what god told him to do to get us to heaven and he performs all the religous cerimonies in the village.I do have my suspitions though like apparently the nuns ans monks are out partying and hunting I though they were meant to be holy and be trustworthy to god. Also the priest is doing no hard labour we are out there every day working so hard for are incoming money while he is sat doing nothing but preying or doing services.And then we have to give him 10% of are income personally I don't like him but I wouldn't dare say becauser I might not get into heaven and go to hell. I would tell him how I feel about these things but I am to scared Ireally want to get into heaven.

ReplyDeleteim starting to get suspicious abouy the church and the priest, our priest doesnt do anything around the village and he exspects us to pay 10% of our earnings every year we cant afford this we are only peasants I can only just feed my family let alone the village and the priest. There is no other way to go to heaven if i dont pay the money i could become a monk or a nun but recently they've been acting very odd I peconlythink that they go out and go hunting just for fun! we need that meat and they kill it just for fun but i ant tell the priest thris because he may not belive me and we might fall out. i could go on a ppilgramige but i cna t afford to leave my crops while i go around the world looking fo a artifact to touch and prey to. I cant pay a man to prey for me because we dont have much money and what we do have is needed to pay for ny family if we dont have money will have no hone and no feilds to work in and if that happens my family will die because theres no way for us to live. But im can't say any of that because the church and the preist will blank me and my family out and we will no doubtly go to hell...

Hello again, I the Lord of Bicester am a bit unhappy with the church and the priest but i dont want to say anything because i dont want to go to hell! I would say somthing but the priest is the one that can send me to heavan or hell. I do like the church very much dont get me wrong on that i enjoy going to church evry Sunday very much and like getting blessed, and confronting the bad things that i have done!!!! ReplyDeletenow i go to church and will go to heaven when i die if what the priest says is true. i go there on sundays with the whole village to pray but at some of the events the priest speaks latin so we cant understand him. the priest a good person to turn to if you need help like food or medical help.

Lately i have been thinking i want more from the church not just do to go heaven witch i greatly want i also want things like a good educaation food and water every night a family that odnt hide there feeling from me! But then when i come to think ofn it ,it dose have its good points for example we get blessed we are near enough grenteed to go to heaven i mean thats nothing bad it it? But you think about all of the good points about thet church and then you think what could go wrong i have a funny feeling theere is somthing suspicous feeling about the church and my mother haas alway told me neveer ever to mention the church wonder if my mother is part of the church and its suspicion? The priest has the power to do what ever he likes, he sits at home and does no physical work at all sometimes i take a huge dislike to him. i dont want to bring shame onto my family. my family and all of our villagers need the church, especially our family as we are the peasents, the church and priest is our only way to get to heaven. why does our family get disrespected all the time i mean we do all the work for everyone including the royal family. the church i a really special place to my family there we celebrate festivals like christmas and easter and we have our last riter before we die. i really feel bad for saying these things oh but it really annoyes me how he just has to lead service and then he takes all of hard earned money i mean its hard for us as have no money. oh our life as peasents is so hard i wish i could be the priest where he get everything for nothing im so jealous

ReplyDeleteIts sunday and i need to go to church well i dont know about the church the preist has been acting weird lately. I go to church because i want to go to hevan when i die, well as a knight you dont know when someones going to chop your head of of hit you in the heart with your sword. I like the church because there is a chance to meet other people around the village because everone in the village needs to go to church to get to hevan these day, i normaly meet up with my knight friend at the door when we walk in and we talk in till the service starts about are training and that. I think that we are beening tricked some times by the priest who wants money from us, he saids that pay me and you will get to hevan, so people do well if they dont they go to hell well thats what the preist say any way.also i dont like that the preist reads the bible in latin most people dont read or speech latin so god knows what he is saying to us in the sevices, there are some rummors going round that the monks and some nun are going out hunting killing animals and also having partys. I would never say any of these to the priest or a nun because if you get on the wrong side of the preist 99% you will ogo to hell and no one wants that now do they. ReplyDeleteI emily dinmore am a nun and I would like to tell you a few things about the church. We only celebrate good feastivals like Christmas and Easter. All us monks and nuns have our own vows of life that we all have to obay, they are the vow of povatry the vow of chasity and the vow of obidience and they are things like we shal not get married and obay the rules of life. Are priest is the only one who can read and write and can speak english and the language of the bible which is latin. And you could turn to the prest for any help.

ReplyDeleteI have to say being a Nun is a very religous thing to commit to. The villagers, I've heard are having suspicions about the Church and Nuns and Monks. I don't know why, the Church is a very religous place to be in. And yes people won't be able to afford things like pilgrimeges and giving money to the Church but it is all for a good deed isn't it? If the villagers dare say a thing it will be very risky. The preist might find out and he will get very angry. Let me tell you something they won't get to heaven!
